The Hematologist App on an iPhone

The Hematologist: ASH News and Reports is published continuously online as well as six times per year in print, providing updates about important developments in the field of hematology. I worked with the editorial staff and a vendor, Rave Technologies, to design, develop, and launch a new mobile app for the publication to make it easier for readers to keep up with new content while on the go.

I managed the project, overseeing all steps of the app development life cycle from design to launch. Throughout the process, I brought together editorial staff and designers, developers, and project managers from the vendor to discuss ideas, keep everyone up to date on the project’s progress, and resolve issues as they arose. I was deeply involved in user experience testing and refinement, app testing and debugging, and project planning.

The app was made as a native app for both iOS and Android. When it launched, it was very popular among hematologists and quickly became one of the Society’s top apps. The Society has since created a new app that combines all of their publications into a single app, so the original Hematologist app that I managed is no longer available in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. However, it was how The Hematologist was first delivered to mobile devices.
